Hi! I am KADE COX [he/they]!
I am a Chicago-based therapist-in-training at NEIU, pursuing a Master's in Couple and Family Counseling (Practicum/Internship starting Fall 2027). With a background in Chicago's storefront theater scene, I view my transition into counseling not as a career pivot, but as an evolution. I am channeling my 'Shakespeare nerd' roots and zest for the human experience into my development as a clinician, striving to be a lifelong learner, an enthusiastic collaborator, and a nimble innovator—all with a healthy penchant for laughter, of course!
As a genderqueer gay man, my clinical interests include LGBTQIA+ themes, sex therapy, and alternative relationship systems. My current academic research explores how R-OCD, retroactive jealousy, and Erotic Capital impact intimacy and the pursuit of thriving, wholehearted relationships. I am drawn to Person-centered and Narrative frameworks to provide non-pathologizing support for clients—whether they are looking to ease relational pain points, cultivate balance, or navigate a major crossroads. Ultimately, my goal is to foster sexual agency and cultivate a clinical space that bridges high-level systemic theory with the specific, nuanced needs of queer identities.
While in school, I also work as a freelance therapy practice administrator. Drawing on a decade of experience across arts, academic, and health systems, I manage behind-the-scenes operations—specializing in EHRs, telehealth infrastructure, grassroots marketing, and intake consultation.
